Shenandoah University’s Center for Civic Engagement is accepting applications for a Civic Engagement Program and Event Coordinator. The position is a 12-month, 20-hour/week position. This part-time benefited position is located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.

The Program and Event Coordinator reports to the Director of Civic Engagement and supports the Center for Civic Engagement’s graduate assistant and work study students to implement programs and events that align with our three areas of civic engagement: volunteering/community service, deliberative dialogue, and voter engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Develops, plans, and coordinates assigned programs and events. Coordinates logistics, volunteers, supplies, and promotional materials, and delegates work-study staff responsibilities.
  • Maintains records on program and event activities, progress, status, post-event/program summary/assessment, and financial information.
  • Attends events to oversee set-up and execution to ensure details are handled as planned. This includes some evening and weekend hours.
  • Supports events and activities planned and implemented by work study students, offering guidance and logistical support as needed
  • Assists in the department with day-to-day operations as assigned
  • Participates fully in the division and university-wide programs and initiatives
Required Skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including writing, proofreading, and speaking
  • Excellent team management and leadership skills; Is team-oriented and works collaboratively to achieve team goals
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Attention to detail, organization, and follow through
  • Self-motivation and ability to take initiative
  • Flexibility for working evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency in Google products
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in the areas of community service and voter engagement.
  • Event planning experience preferred.
