Description
The Department of Art in Clemson University’s College of Architecture, Art and Construction seeks highly qualified candidates to fill course instruction needs in all areas of Art & Design disciplines.
Please note: This advertisement is not for a specific role but for various temporary faculty opportunities within Clemson University’s Department of Art as they become available.
This part-time opportunity for teaching one or more courses is ongoing. Members of the pool would be called upon to teach lower division or upper division undergraduate and/or graduate students according to instructional need. Courses may be offered in spring, summer and/or fall terms, and in one or more modalities (i.e. traditional in-person or online). The start date will vary according to the instructional needs of the department.
The areas of content expertise for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level may include the following:
• Digital Art & Design Media (Animation, Digital Art, Game Design, Graphic Design, Media / Motion Arts)
• Studio Art (Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture)
• Foundations (Digital Art Foundations, 2D Design, 3D Design, Drawing)
• Art History
• Art Education
• Arts Administration / Museum Studies / Arts Management
• Art Appreciation (General Education)
• Other topical courses / electives
Position duration: Appointments are typically made during one or both semesters of the academic year (fall and spring), but they may also be made during Summer.
Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.

Qualifications
• M.F.A. or Ph.D. in related Art & Design discipline. Equivalent terminal degrees, foreign degrees, or significant professional experience in a relevant field of study will be considered.
• Prior university or college teaching experience.
Preferred qualifications:
• Evidence of research and/or creative work related to art and design in contemporary practice along with expertise in content aligned with degree program areas.
• Proven ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds.
• An interdisciplinary orientation toward visual art practices, encompassing multiple areas of art practice across 2D, 3D, and 4D art & design media (studio art, applied design, motion design, performance, social practice and community research, and convergences of design / art / science / technology)
