Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Qatar seeks applicants for two teaching-track positions in our top-ranked Information Systems program beginning in Fall Semester 2025 (starts 1st August 2025). Our most immediate needs are for candidates who can teach courses in one of these two areas: data science or the design and development of information systems. We also welcome candidates who can teach topics such as Artificial Intelligence, IS consulting, emerging technologies, digital innovation, databases, and other core information systems courses and concentrations.
The expected teaching load is 2-2 with opportunities to engage in research independently and/or in collaboration with CMU’s researchers across multiple disciplines. Our faculty members are recognized internationally for their expertise and are dedicated to undergraduate education. A reasonable teaching load allows time for quality teaching and curricular development, research and close involvement with students, faculty and the local business and educational community.
These positions, based at CMU’s branch campus in Doha, Qatar, offer competitive salaries, research seed funds, attractive professional development support, excellent international health care coverage, and allowances for housing, travel, and schooling (if eligible), among other benefits.
The Information Systems Program at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar offers an undergraduate major which aims to educate local and international students to meet the increasing demand for information systems skills in Qatar, the Gulf region, and globally. For more information on our Information Systems program, visit (1) IS program at CMU–Qatar and (2) IS program at CMU-Pittsburgh.

Qualified candidates who can also contribute through their work/life experiences to the diversity and excellence of the academic community are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Information Systems or a closely related field. ABDs that graduate by March 2025 will also be considered. While we welcome applicants with relevant backgrounds, we are specifically looking for candidates with expertise in one of the two areas: (1) Data Science or (2) the design and development of information systems. Additional skills and experience in topics related to Artificial Intelligence, IS consulting, emerging technologies, digital innovation, databases, and/or aligned with our core information systems courses and concentrations are also desirable. A prior record of teaching effectiveness and/or relevant industry experience is welcomed.
Appointments for these positions will be at the assistant, associate, or full teaching professor rank with multi-year contracts and promotion opportunities. These positions emphasize teaching excellence, curricular development, and supervising collaborative student projects. Student advising and mentoring are highly encouraged. Besides the teaching load of 2-2, faculty are expected to engage in research and/or other scholarly activities that contribute to the field or to society at large. Demonstrable professional growth during the term of appointment, such as research publications, engagement in the professional community, and/or publication of educational materials will be required for reappointment and promotion.
