New Mexico Tech invites applications for at least one full time, tenure-track position as either an
Assistant or Associate Professor of Computer Science to begin in August 2025, in the
Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Salary and rank are commensurate with
experience and qualifications aligned with the details in NMT's Policy and Procedure for
Appointment, Promotion & Tenure.


Successful candidates are expected to (1) have a doctorate in Computer Science or a closely
related field by the time of appointment. (2) establish an independent, externally funded
research program supporting graduate and undergraduate students, (3) have an ability to teach
courses in computer science from the introductory through graduate level, the latter within their
areas of experience, (4) demonstrate an ability to support student academic success by
engaging and encouraging students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural
backgrounds, and (5) have a commitment to professional and academic excellence with service
to the Department, the University, and their profession. The teaching load for research active
STEM faculty is 2-2. While the area of research specialization is open, possible areas of interest
for faculty research include systems, artificial intelligence, or cybersecurity. In addition to the
open research specialization, a candidate that is comfortable teaching courses such as
computer architecture, compilers, or operating systems would be preferred.


Department Description: New Mexico Tech is a public 4-year technical university that is also a
Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI). The Department of Computer Science and Engineering
houses undergraduate and graduate degrees (MS and PhD) in Computer Science with faculty
contributing to transdisciplinary graduate programs (MS and PhD) in Cybersecurity as well as
undergraduate degrees in Information Technology and Management of Technology.

an hour south of Albuquerque with its many attractions and convenient airport access.
