The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at Ohio University (https://www.ohio.edu/cas/biology) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Genetics, with an expected start date of August 2025.
We seek a eukaryotic geneticist studying fundamental questions in genetics using innovative, modern approaches and techniques. Applicants across a broad range of research areas are welcome, including those with expertise in genotype-to-phenotype analyses, developmental biology, epigenetics, disease susceptibility, co-evolution, or the biology of complex traits. The successful applicant is expected to add breadth to our department and interact with faculty within the Department of Biological Sciences. There are also opportunities to collaborate with a number of other research institutes, centers and departments at Ohio University, including the Dept. of Chemistry & Biochemistry, the Dept. of Environmental & Plant Biology, the Diabetes Institute (DI), the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Institute (ITDI), the Ohio Center for Ecological and Evolutionary Studies (OCEES), and the Ohio Musculoskeletal and Neurological Institute (OMNI).
This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track appointment. In addition to maintaining an externally funded research program, the successful applicant will be expected to mentor graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) and undergraduate students in a research setting and contribute to the teaching mission of the department. Teaching responsibilities include one upper-level undergraduate course in genetics, and two additional courses that fill departmental teaching needs and are consistent with the candidate’s expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Biology, Genetics, or related field by the start date of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-doctoral experience
- A record of extramural support and publications in relevant journals
- Experience studying genetics in a eukaryotic system
- Teaching experience
