Primary Purpose of Position:
This position is essential to the College's efforts to expand the BSS program by focusing on teaching and building a concentration on the social and cultural context of Trauma. Therefore, the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities is seeking applications to fill one nine-month tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level starting July 2024. The selected candidate will be expected to teach a full course load (twelve credit hours per semester), participate in the development of the BSS curriculum, engage in scholarly research, advise students, and perform department and University service. The position will be affiliated with the Department of Social Work.
Minimum Education/Experience:
A PhD in Behavioral Sciences or Healthcare Services is required. Additional education in Behavioral Studies, Psychology, or related areas is a plus. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of teaching experience in Trauma. Candidates must have experience in the formal assessment of student and program learning outcomes.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate courses through face-to-face and online instruction (via CANVAS), advising students, curriculum development and consistent assessment of student and program learning outcomes. As a tenure-track faculty member the person must conduct and produce peer-reviewed scholarship to meet the requirements of reappointment, promotion, and tenure according to the criteria of the department (Social Work), the College, and the University. The person must also engage in significant service within the College and University Community. The ability to work independently as well as collegiality with others to ensure student success in a diverse environment is expected.
