Academic Support Specialist

Primary Purpose of Position:
The person hired for this position will serve as a specialist in the School of Law's Academic Support Program.
Minimum Education/Experience:
- A juris doctor degree from an ABA accredited
institution.
- A member in good standing with a state bar.
- An outstanding law school academic record.
- A genuine desire to work closely with students.
- Three years of experience as a practicing attorney or one year
of experience in student support at a law school.
Preferred Qualifications: - Prior experience working in academic or bar support positions
with law students.
- Teaching and/or tutoring experience in higher education,
preferably law.
- Experience working with students or others in crisis with a
calm and respectful demeanor, and subsequently make well-reasoned
determinations of next steps.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Excellent oral and written English communication
skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Excellent computer and technology skills. Experience with data
management, Microsoft Excel, and report development
preferred.
- Ability to effectively teach in workshop and individual
settings.
- Flexibility to work evening hours and weekends.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail
and accuracy.
- Ability to find creative solutions for complex problems while
still maintaining the integrity of the standards and policies of
the institution.
- Ability to work independently, making effective decisions
quickly and resolutely.
- Ability to work with a highly diverse staff, faculty, and
student body
