PRINT TECHNICAL SPECIALIST
The Print Technical Specialist works to provide critical support for the Printing and Design Center at Willamette University. The responsibilities of this position include processing and production of high quality black and white and full color copies using Xerox production equipment. This position also has the opportunity to market services provided by the department, maintenance of the department web site and assistance with Standard Mail.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Production of variable length run digital copying jobs using
Xerox production equipment.
- Responsible for testing and adjusting product quality
throughout production runs.
- Operates and maintains the large format printer used for large
posters and signage.
- Assists staff, faculty and students with design format and
creation.
- Assists Standard Mail with mail preparations, which may include
the following: folding, stuffing, sealing, traying and
bundling.
- Maintains departmental website updating services and
pricing.
- Establishes workload priorities and consistently meets
deadlines.
- Promotes and markets department services to the campus
community.
- Operates finishing equipment including, cutter, folder, drill,
spiral binder and shrink wrapper and performs general maintenance
on machines.
- Maintains security of confidential materials.
- Provides customer service via phone, email or in person and
maintains a positive working relationship with the campus
community.
- Operates department in the absence of other
employees.
- Contacts and works with Xerox Customer Support to identify
equipment issues and obtain resolutions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of high speed
digital production equipment.
- Ability to make decisions, prioritize workload and maintain
confidentiality.
- Customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of software required to perform the position.
Software includes Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop, Microsoft Excel and
Word.
- Must be able to work independently as well as establish and
maintain relationships with staff, faculty and students.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to discuss projects in depth in order to accurately
describe options available in Print Services.
- Ability to adapt and handle problems as they arise.
- Must work efficiently with a high volume of work and strict
deadlines.
Typical Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Ability to safely lift and carry 50lb boxes of
paper.
- Ability to perform tasks that involve walking, standing and
bending for long periods of time.
Salary: $20.19/ hour
