Salary : $25,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary
This half-time Assistant Teaching Professorship (50% time) will maintain a workload of 95% Teaching and 5% Service. The teaching load will be 2/2. Teaching Area: Medieval/Early Modern European History, including but not limited to courses in Tudor-Stuart England, the Crusades, Medieval survey (History 1020), Early Modern Europe survey (History 1030), Renaissance/Reformation, Military History, and other courses as may be agreed upon within the Department. The teaching will possibly include rotation into the History Undergraduate Capstone Courses: HIST 4990 Senior Thesis Seminar and HIST 3001 The Historian's Craft. This position is also expected to have attendance at Departmental Meetings and at the annual History Department Retreat and have inclusion in Departmental Service.
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching courses in Medieval and Early Modern European History.
- Teaching is the primary duty in this position. 5% service entails attending departmental meetings and the annual departmental Retreat, as well as participating in departmental decisions. The holder of the position may also create new courses and co-teach if/when so desired with others in the Department or in the Humanities program.
- This person should expect to be fully integrated into the life of the Department of History, as are other Teaching Professors and Lecturers in the Department.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- MA in History or a related field, such as Medieval Studies.
- Three years experience in teaching Medieval/Early Modern European history, both in-person and online.
- Strongly preferred are at least five years experience in undergraduate teaching, both in-person and online, in this field.
- Experience in teaching perennially popular courses such as The Crusades and Tudor-Stuart England
- Experience and training in teaching skills of critical analysis and writing to history students.
- Priority will be given to applications submitted by: October 24, 2024 by 5:00pm.
- Potential interview dates: Starting t he week of November 4, 2024.
- Potential start date: January 15, 2025.
