Job Description
The Opportunity
The Department of Human Factors and Behavioral Neurobiology at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL, is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, starting in August 2025. The successful candidate will join our fully accredited Human Factors program, recognized by the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. We welcome candidates with a strong foundation in Psychology and an applied research program. The area of specialization is open, but preference may be given to those who specialize in innovative and emerging areas such as the human factors associated with artificial intelligence, human-AI and/or human-robot interaction, or cybersecurity. Additional preference may be placed on areas that apply to aviation and aerospace psychology. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in both research and teaching, contributing to the continued growth and success of our programs.

Required Education/Qualifications
The ideal candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Applied, Experimental, Human Factors, or a related psychological discipline by Fall 2025; a record of research productivity in a relevant area (see The Opportunity for details); an ability to attract external funding; and a commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate, Masters level, and Ph.D. level students in research including theses and dissertations. The department is research-oriented in Psychology, Aerospace & Transportation, Health Care, Teamwork, Training, Neuroscience, Ergonomics, Gaming, and Human-Computer Interaction and how these areas relate to aerospace. The program offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Human Factors Psychology.
