Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of History at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#26270 ) in Public History with an emphasis in Museum Studies at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.
Responsibilities include teaching required graduate museums-focused public history seminars, such as Seminar in Museum Management; teaching survey and upper division courses in U.S. history; and mentoring, advising, and directing theses and dissertations for public history graduate students. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Public History Program (MA and PhD) and work with campus partners, as well as local, regional, and national museums and historic sites. An active research agenda and US specialization is expected.
Required Education
A terminal degree in history or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
