Position Summary
The Director of the Center for the Advancement of InterProfessional Practice (CAIPPER) is a new position, which combines an academic administrative position with a faculty position at the University of Illinois Chicago. CAIPPER's mission is to create transformational change in health professions education and health care service delivery by building collaborative competence and fostering interprofessional scholarship and collaborative practice, with focused attention to the pressing needs of underserved individuals and populations.
The primary responsibility of the Director is to provide leadership to achieve CAIPPER’s strategic goals through collaborative work with the seven UIC health sciences colleges (College of Applied Health Science, College of Dentistry, College of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, School of Public Health, Jane Addams College of Social Work), the University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics, and other clinical training sites. CAIPPER goals relate to interprofessional education, interprofessional collaborative practice, faculty development, and student engagement and leadership development.
The CAIPPER Director reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Interprofessional Practice and Education within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs in a faculty administrative role and to an academic unit within one of UIC’s seven health science colleges in a faculty role. This is a full-time position comprised of dual appointments within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs and a UIC academic unit; the appointment structure will be determined at the time of hire.
