Job Details
Summary: The Department of Biomedical Sciences at Grand Valley State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank to begin Fall 2025. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. or equivalent in anatomy, biological anthropology, comparative biology, health sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution. Applicants will be expected to teach human anatomy courses and associated cadaver-based labs. The candidate is expected to develop an active research program at GVSU that engages undergraduate and graduate students. We are interested in candidates from under-represented groups and/or individuals who have experience working with diverse student and community populations.
Required Qualifications and Education:
- Ph.D. or equivalent degree in anatomy, biological anthropology, comparative biology, health sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution. ABD candidates will be considered for a two-year contract with the provision that the Ph.D. must be completed by December 2026.
- Qualified applicants will be committed to both successful classroom teaching and an active research program involving undergraduate and graduate students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect, cultural humility, and empathy.
- Evidence of one’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.
- Experience teaching human cadaveric anatomy using both a systems-based and regional approach.
- Experience involving undergraduate students in one’s research program. Faculty area of research emphasis is open.
- A consistent record of peer-reviewed publication and presentation (co-authorship with mentored students desirable).
Minimum Starting Salary: $76,866; commensurate with experience.
