MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTOR - (PART-TIME)
OLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGE


Olive-Harvey College is currently seeking a part-time Martial Arts Instructor. If you have a passion for teaching and learning and are committed to the mission of the community college, consider joining our team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teaching Martial Arts & Self-Defense to students ranging from beginning students to advanced students
  • Knowledge of best practices for conducting martial arts classes
  • Provide quality instruction to students
  • Establish and follow a format that allows students to progress in learning
  • Track attendance
  • Give physical, written and verbal tests to students
  • Participate in the presentation of rank and certifications
  • Lead students in public presentations including demonstrations, recitals and seminars
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1 or more years of experience teaching martial arts, specifically Kung Fu
  • Certified rank of Instructor or higher
  • Knowledge of hand-to-hand combat and self-defense techniques
  • Physically capable of teaching martial arts
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse group of staff and students required
  • Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population is desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.
