Career Exploration – Instructor (Part Time)

Daley College

Richard J. Daley College is looking to hire a PT Instructor to teach Career Exploration course in the Continuing Education Program. This course is scheduled for the Fall 2024 semester.

In this course the Career Exploration Instructor provides students’ academic and career direction. Class activities emphasize career self-assessment, career exploration, academic decision-making, and goal setting. Assists students to research careers and match their careers with their skills. This course will teach students/participants how to choose a career pathway.

The Career Exploration Instructor willensure that students have a define career path way as they enter and academic setting. This will enable the participants to choose an academic plan that meets their strengths and job goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Teaches classes and provides instruction to students enrolled in Career Exploration course, including explore career options and develop a career pathway plan, connect academic choices with careers pathways, analyze career options and their pay scales

· Implements instructional plans to improve career choices

· Creates lesson plans and provides instruction to students in Career Exploration course.

· Integrates critical thinking into the learning environment.

· Uses a variety of teaching methods to assist students with differing educational levels and learning styles in meeting learning objectives.

· Satisfied progress benchmarks based on Student Learning Outcomes.

· Prepares, evaluates performance and assigns grades.

· Participates in developing and revising curriculum and course content for areas of instruction assigned to improve student learning and quality of instruction.

· Participates in weekly staff meetings to discuss program related issues, students’ progress, strengths and challenges. Makes collaborative decisions on program changes.

· Attends and participates in staff development activities and workshops, student conferences, and program orientation.

· Maintains required class records on student attendance and grades.

· Conducts a needs assessment to further understand the needs and trends of students.

· Creates an initial Individual Career Success Plan for students enrolled in career exploration programs.

· Ensure students builds relationships with students through individual career exploration sessions with college career department.

· Provides guidance in the areas of individual assessment, career-planning, and career exploration and strategies for students.

· Collaborates with key Teams and faculty to address key student concerns with the goal of fully integrating career education and experiential learning into the academic experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Education.
Prefer qualifications:
  • Masters in Secondary Education, Special Education Certification or other education certifications. Demonstrated teaching experience
