Malcolm X College is seeking a Reprographics Technician I for the Auxiliary Services Department

Reporting to the Director Auxiliary Services, a Reprographics Technician Ioperates high volume multi-functional printers/ copiers and finishing options equipment to provide copy and print services to staff submitting job requests to the colleges Print Production Center. Works to ensure completed print jobs are accurate, on time, and meet quality standards and customers satisfaction. AReprographics TechnicianIalso monitor and ensures photocopiers are functioning properly and are fully stocked with paper, toner, staples, and related supplies; performs routine troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of equipment; and assists college staff in troubleshooting copy equipment. Performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Reviews job orders for printing requirements including quantity, color or black and white; document type; paper size and stock; and finishing options.
- Operates high volume multi-functional production printers / photocopiers to copy and print documents including office documents, booklets, brochures, and posters.
- Uses operations panel/screen to enter and set appropriate commands for each job; monitors print production; and checks output for quality assurance.
- Sets up and operates equipment for finishing options including binding, collating, stapling, cutting, folding, laminating, three-hole punch, and foam board to complete print jobs.
- Performs routine maintenance on colleges fleet of photocopiers; adds papers, changes toner, and trouble-shoots malfunctions such as paper jams; notifies vendors of needed repairs.
- Maintains and performs adjustments and minor repairs to finishing equipment.
- Orders supplies for photocopiers and maintains inventory of supplies.
- Provides guidance to college staff on how to operate and troubleshoot photocopiers in their office area as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High School diploma or high school equivalency certification required
- Some postsecondary training or college highly desirable
- One year of work experience as a copy machine operator
- Knowledge of the operations and routine maintenance of high volume, multi-functional printer/photocopier equipment (e.g. Ricoh Pro and MP; Canon Image Runner; Canon Poster Printer)
- Knowledge of the use and maintenance of finishing equipment
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to provide service to customers
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to operate high volume multi-functional printers to copy and print documents
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Some proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.
This position is represented by the Local 1600 professional union.
Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
