Marietta College seeks a visionary leader to develop and guide its innovative Center for Energy Exploration, Earth, and Environment (CEEE). This new center builds on the College's long-standing reputation as the only liberal arts college with a Petroleum Engineering program. The CEEE will educate and train students to be leaders in both well-established and emerging sectors of the increasingly sustainable energy industry.

The College aims to continue its pioneering role in preparing leaders to shape our shared energy future. With its vision realized, the CEEE will serve as the region's resource for education and information on energy systems development, the environmental impacts of energy alternatives, and sustainable energy practices.

The future energy landscape will increasingly focus on sustainable energy solutions. This evolution will necessitate ongoing advancements in subsurface energy solutions, including hydrogen production and storage, carbon capture and sequestration, natural gas extraction and storage, geothermal energy, energy conservation, and electrochemical energy production and storage. Over time, new energy solutions?such as wind, solar, and nuclear energy?will play a larger and more scalable role in meeting our collective energy needs. The CEEE will prepare Marietta students to assume leadership roles across these evolving energy sectors.

The College seeks a highly collaborative, visionary, and visible leader who can build on the strengths of current academic programs, develop relevant new programs of study related to energy system development and sustainability, and facilitate strategic alliances with external stakeholders, including learning partners, funders, governmental, and industry leaders. This leader will be committed to providing a relevant course of study combined with experiential learning, ensuring that Marietta graduates are fully prepared for careers that will shape the future energy solutions. They will embrace the value of combining technical preparation with a broad-based education.

JOB SUMMARY

The Dean of the Marietta College Center for Energy Exploration, Earth and the Environment (CEEE) will create an innovative and future-focused interdisciplinary educational program that offers a strong technical foundation, ensuring that Marietta graduates are prepared for the ever-evolving global energy marketplace.

This program will cover a diverse array of topics, including energy systems, environmental science, subsurface engineering, earth science, environmental studies, energy policy, the energy economy, business, finance, and energy systems sustainability. Areas of study will include hydrogen production and storage, carbon capture and sequestration, natural gas extraction and storage, electrochemical storage, and geothermal, nuclear, wind, and solar energy solutions.

The CEEE will equip students for technical and business leadership roles in the energy industry through their exploration of practical, applied solutions to mid- and long-term energy challenges. With a strong science core, the program will be interdisciplinary, ensuring that Marietta College graduates possess the technical, economic, and regulatory expertise necessary to impact the energy sector immediately upon graduation. Building on the College's well-established Petroleum Engineering Program, the CEEE will assure the synergistic integration of environmental science, geosciences, biology, related engineering disciplines, physics, chemistry, and business programs at Marietta College.
