Visiting Assistant Professor of Data Science & Statistics - 000947

The Interdisciplinary Program in Data Science and Statistics at the University of Richmond invites applications for a full-time, visiting assistant professorship beginning in January 2025. This is a semester-long appointment, renewable for an additional year, contingent upon performance, budget, and continued need. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to high-quality undergraduate education who will also enhance the scholarly and creative opportunities provided by our program. All areas of data science and statistics are welcome, including work consisting of applications of computational methodologies within other disciplines. A Ph.D. is required prior to the start date of January 13, 2025.

Applicants should have the potential and desire to commit to highly effective, inclusive teaching. We are firmly committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, striving to give all students interested in data science the opportunity, skills, and support needed to succeed. We are seeking colleagues who share these goals of broadening access and inclusivity in STEM disciplines in general, and in science specifically, which aligns with the University's strategic plan (https://strategicplan.richmond.edu), as well as that of the School of Arts & Sciences (https://as.richmond.edu/).

The University of Richmond is a private university located just a short drive from downtown Richmond, Virginia. With nearly 4,000 students, an 8:1 student-faculty ratio, and more than 90% of traditional undergraduate students living on campus, the University is remarkably student-centered, focused on preparing students "to live lives of purpose, thoughtful inquiry, and responsible leadership in a global and pluralistic society."

The University of Richmond is committed to developing a diverse workforce and student body, and to modeling an inclusive campus community which values the expression of difference in ways that promote excellence in teaching, learning, personal development, and institutional success. Our academic community strongly encourages applications that are in keeping with this commitment.
