Bucknell University

Kenneth W. Freeman College of Management

Assistant Teaching Professor (Non-Tenure Track) in Markets, Innovation, and Design

The Markets, Innovation, and Design (MiDE) Department at Bucknell University's Freeman College of Management invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position to contribute to the College's mission of providing a rigorous, experiential education, in the context of a unique national university with a vibrant liberal arts core and strong complementary professional programs. The appointment is slated to begin in August 2025 (a start date of January 2025 is also a possibility). This is a renewable appointment with an initial term of three years.

The successful candidate will be qualified to teach courses in the domain of marketing (e.g., Principles of Marketing, Digital Marketing), innovation, and design, including the introductory course in MiDE (MIDE 300) that blends design thinking with concepts from marketing and innovation. Given the centrality of design thinking in the MiDE curriculum, familiarity with this approach and/or studio-based pedagogy to innovation will be advantageous. The teaching load is six courses per academic year.

The successful candidate should possess a terminal degree in a relevant field. In addition, candidates will be expected to advise students and facilitate student experiential learning and maintain faculty qualifications consistent with the AACSB accreditation standards for clinical faculty. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of, or potential for, engaging in ongoing professional activities, such as consulting or participation on boards related to their professional background.

The approximately 700 undergraduate students in the AACSB-accredited Freeman College of Management may choose among eight highly interdisciplinary majors that combine courses in the various fields of management, with offerings also in the arts, humanities, natural and social sciences, and engineering. Our innovative curriculum and world-class teacher-scholars earned Freeman College a top-20 ranking in the Poets & Quants' annual survey of undergraduate business programs in each of the past 3 years. We believe that an undergraduate education combining technical skills and deep intellectual exploration is the best preparation for thoughtful and capable leaders. Non-tenure track faculty members must be capable of contributing to this mission through teaching, advising, and service.

Bucknell University, an Equal Opportunity Employer, believes that students learn best in a diverse, inclusive community and is therefore committed to academic excellence through diversity in its faculty, staff, and students. As such, the successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse student body and a track record of inclusive, innovative pedagogy. We seek candidates who are committed to Bucknell's efforts to create and maintain a climate that fosters the growth and development of a diverse student body, to raising perspectives that may not otherwise be vocalized in the classroom, and who are eager to advise and mentor students from multicultural and underrepresented student groups. We welcome candidates who demonstrate excellence in reflective multicultural and inclusive teaching practices and who display a strong commitment to collaboration and interdisciplinarity.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Candidates must possess a terminal degree in a field appropriate for teaching marketing and/or design-related courses.
  • Candidates must have either compiled a record of teaching excellence, or demonstrate potential for teaching excellence.

APPLICATION

Review of applications will begin no later than November 1, 2024 and will continue until the position is filled.
