KENT STATE UNIVERSITY, Department of Accounting invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2025. Experienced assistant professors are encouraged to apply. We are open to all areas of accounting research. We especially encourage applications from those with teaching interests in accounting information systems, taxation, and/or auditing.
Responsibilities: Job duties include but are not limited to classroom teaching in the fields of accounting, taxation, and/or auditing at the graduate and undergraduate level, advising and evaluating students, conducting and publishing research in top academic journals, and other duties normally associated with a tenure-track position at an R1 institution of higher education.
Qualifications: Candidates must have completed or nearly completed a doctoral degree in accounting, exhibit potential for publishing in top academic journals, and provide evidence of effective teaching. Professional experience and certification are desirable.
About the University, College and Department: Kent State University is classified as an R1 institution by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions in Higher Education. It is one of the largest universities in the state of Ohio and is located on an attractive, suburban campus within close driving distance to the cities of Akron and Cleveland. The area is known for its low cost of living and a quality of life. Kent, Ohio is a short drive from of the Cuyahoga National Park and other area attractions such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, professional sports teams, and concert venues. The residential campus is one of the safest in the nation and draws a large student population (approximately 25,000), while the Kent State eight-campus system serves more than 34,000 students. This position will be located on the Kent campus.
The Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship holds dual accreditation in both business and accounting by AACSB-International. As of Fall 2024, the recently completed, state-of-the-art Crawford Hall is the college’s new home, supporting innovative business instruction, leading research, and student support services. In 2024, the college’s Online MBA program was ranked among the top 50 by Princeton Review. The college is also recognized by U.S. News & World Report as being among the 2024 Best Undergraduate Business Programs in the nation. The Department of Accounting offers an undergraduate accounting major and minor, a Master of Science in Accounting and a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, as well as accounting courses in the MBA program.
