The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for three full-time faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, with a start date of August 2025. Applicants with strong research profiles in all areas of mathematics will be considered. However, one of these positions is designated for numerical analysis, and candidates applying for this position should demonstrate strong expertise in developing analytical, numerical and/or computational mathematical methods.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  All candidates must hold a PhD in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics and have experience in North American-style education. Applicants should demonstrate a strong research background, evidenced by high-quality publications in top-tier journals. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain an active research program, supervise master’s and PhD students, secure research grants, and engage in international collaborations. Evidence of excellence in teaching across all curriculum levels and strong communication skills in English are required.

The second file contains the candidate's curriculum vitae and contact details for three references. These references should provide letters of recommendation commenting on the applicant's research abilities, with at least one letter addressing the applicant's teaching abilities.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at AUS offers diverse programs, including a PhD in Mathematics, Master of Science in Mathematics, a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, and minors in applied and computational mathematics, actuarial mathematics, and data science. Our student body covers a large array of nationalities and enjoys a diverse and inclusive environment. The department currently consists of 24 full-time faculty members who are actively engaged in original research in different areas of mathematics and statistics.
