The Department of Government, Criminology, & Sociology at Lander University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track faculty position in Political Science and Legal Studies to start in August 2025 (or possibly January 2025).  Faculty rank is based upon credentials and experience.  Both Lecturer and Teaching Assistant Professor have opportunities for promotion.  Salary is competitive and based upon relevant experience.

Eligible candidates should possess a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and have experience practicing law or an M.A. in Political Science (Ph.D. preferred) with a focus in Judicial Politics or Public Law.  Candidates will serve Lander’s General Education curriculum with an introductory course in American government but should also be able to offer some courses that support majors in Criminology, Political Science, and Paralegal Studies: Constitutional Law; Civil Rights & Civil Liberties; International Law, Judicial Process; Law, Politics, & Society; and Advanced Legal Research.

University-level teaching experience is required, with a preference for candidates who have taught both face to face, hybrid, and online courses.  The candidate should be committed to teaching excellence, willing to contribute to collaborative efforts in recruitment, retention, and overall departmental growth, and work effectively with a diverse student population.
