The Department of Psychology at Knox College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning September 1, 2025. We seek a colleague who can offer courses and student research opportunities in either: 1) clinical, counseling, or community psychology or 2) social psychology. A secondary interest or expertise in research methods and statistics would also be a strength.
The position involves an annual six-course teaching load (two each 10-week term) that includes teaching an upper level course in the candidate’s area of expertise, supervision of undergraduate research projects, teaching research methods and statistics and potentially either Theories of Personality or Introduction to Psychology. In addition, for the clinical position, we would like the candidate to also be able to teach a course in psychopathology and to contribute to our Clinical Psychology immersion term: https://www.knox.edu/academics/immersion-experiences/clinical-psychology-term. For social psychology, we are especially interested in candidates able to teach a lower level course in social psychology and potentially a course in evolutionary psychology or organizational behavior.
Knox College is an independent, selective liberal arts institution with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. Candidates should have a sincere interest in quality undergraduate teaching at an institution that values diversity and close interactions with students, as well as a desire to maintain an active research program. We are particularly interested in creative, energetic teachers of undergraduate students who can contribute to Knox College’s considerable diversity and reflect that diversity in their teaching, mentoring, and research. With 21% first-generation college students, 37% of domestic students of color, and more than 20% international students, the College seeks courses appealing and welcoming to all of Knox’s students. Experience working with diverse populations of students and a commitment to teach successfully in a multicultural environment are expected.
