Brief Summary of Work for this Position: The Transfer and Non-Traditional Admissions Coordinator is a vital member of the Admissions team and diligently works to recruit and enroll non-traditional students, including online, adult-learner, re-enrolling, and other non-traditional populations. This position has daily, continual contact with internal and external constituents. This position must be knowledgeable of all Admissions policies and procedures set forth by the University and the Office of Admissions, and be able to articulate that knowledge to others.

The Transfer and Non-traditional Admissions Coordinator must have a strong ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and operate with a sense of urgency and attention to deadlines. The main job functions include the following:

  • Assists prospective online accelerated program students by providing information related to transfer admission policies and procedures, transferability of credit, and graduation requirements
  • Assists prospective re-enrolling and non-degree seeking students by providing information related to Office of Admissions and University policies and procedures
  • Manages an assigned caseload of applicants to non-traditional Undergraduate programs, reviews applications for admission, and recommends admission decisions
  • Proactively engages with students through virtual meetings, targeted communication, or other opportunities; meets and communicates effectively with students, other University departments, partner enrollment management companies, and other key stakeholders
  • Assists with recruitment travel as needed to educate prospective students on admissions policies and procedures
  • Participates in on and off-campus recruitment events and represents UNCW at events and in the community
  • Communicates effectively with students, community college partners, campus partners, and other stakeholders
  • Remains current on all admissions-related policies and regulations of the UNC system, UNCW, the Office of Admissions, and applies policies effectively
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: The Office of Admissions’ primary goal is to recruit, admit, and enroll students who will thrive within our collegiate community. This unit oversees the entire process, from recruitment to enrollment.Regular interaction and contact with the public, including professionals in all disciplines of the university, is involved. These interactions require an accurate knowledge of relaying Admissions policies and procedures set forth by the University and the Office of Admissions. Our office is actively engaged in diverse activities aimed at promoting and facilitating the wide array of programs, activities, and opportunities available at UNCW.
