The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at the University of Massachusetts (https://bme.umass.edu) is embarking on a strategic hiring program enabled by additional investments from the UMass Institute for Applied Life Sciences (IALS) (https:www.umass.edu/ials). The BME Department is seeking candidates for one non-tenure track faculty position, Lecturer. We are particularly interested in individuals who can contribute to the expansive domain of Biomedical
Engineering in alignment with the department's and campus's research and teaching visions. Benefiting from the university's strong history of both intra- and inter-departmental collaboration, as well as partnerships with the UMass Chan Medical School, our department is on a rapid ascent. The projected start date for these roles is September 1, 2025.
The successful candidate for the lecturer position must have a M.S. (Ph.D. preferred) in Biomedical Engineering or related fields. The candidate must have the interest and ability to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and have a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
As a campus with an increasingly diverse student body, we are seeking candidates who can operate effectively in a diverse faculty and student community, and who value collegiality, collaboration, achievement, and integrity. We encourage applications from women, minorities, LGBTQIA+ and individuals with a commitment to mentor students from under-represented backgrounds within engineering. We are committed to helping all constituents reach their full potential, creating best-in-practice operations to support faculty scholarship, and fostering excellence in student experiences inside and outside our department.
Applications will be considered until the position is filled; however, applications should be received by December 1, 2024, to ensure full consideration. Applicants should submit a single PDF file that includes: Cover Letter, Research Statement, Teaching Statement, Statement of Contribution to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Curriculum Vitae, and Contact Information for three professional references.
