Position Function

The Residential Area Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of a housing neighborhood housing 1800+ residential students. This includes supervision of 2-4 full-time bachelors and master’s level professionals, 2-5 graduate students, and 40+ undergraduate student staff. Additional responsibilities include advising neighborhood councils, supervision of 2-5 hall desk programs, and specialization in an ancillary area of the department such as housing assignments, summer operations, IT Systems, training, or Fiscal Operations. This is a live-on position.

Minimum Education

Master’s degree from an accredited institution.

Minimum Experience

At least one year full-time post-master’s experience by October 1, 2024.

Minimum Other

Must be available to begin work on October 1, 2024.

Authorization to work in the US

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Education

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in discipline represented within student affairs administration or related field.

Preferred Experience

2-3 year’s full-time post-master’s experience in housing or a related field.

Preferred Other

Pre-Employment Screening

Requires successful completion of a background check and education verification.

Develop and implement intentional learning experiences through facilitation of a Residential Curriculum. Participate in the overall planning and management of a residence hall program to support student learning, development, and success.

Work with team to develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure healthy and safe environment for employees and students. Build and maintain an atmosphere to promote self-discipline and respect for others through upholding and enforcing university policies. Respond to emergency crisis situations in an efficient and effective manner to ensure the safety and well-being of residents. Serve on an after-hour on-call duty rotation which includes some weekends and holidays.

Cultivate positive working relationships with students, parents, department and university staff, faculty, and campus partners. Establish positive relationships with other departments within Student Affairs and the university; assume a leadership position within the department through committee work, activities, liaison work with other departments, and professional and staff training and professional development activities.

Oversee special projects and collateral assignments as needed. This includes a 20% ancillary assignment in a functional area within the department (for example: training, summer operations, fiscal operations, housing IT, Housing business operations or occupancy management, short-term stay, or other functional areas). This will likely include specific summer projects such as policy review, updating manuals, planning and implementation of student, graduate, and professional recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training, summer camps and conferences, and orientation activities.
