Writing Center Coordinator/Instructor of English

POSITION SUMMARY:
Rogers State University is currently accepting applications for Writing Center Coordinator/Instructor of English, full-time.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Maintain assigned teaching load (15 credit hours per semester) in accordance with established faculty requirements and responsibilities in teaching Developmental Reading, English Composition I and its corresponding supplemental lab sections, and Composition II (onllne and on ground).
- Provide academic interaction with students on a weekly basis through posted instructor guidance and assignment feedback.
- Advise students.
- Provide student support via email, MyRSU, and phone (as needed).
- Grade and post student work while providing constructive and detailed feedback to help students achieve academic success.
- Maintain effective and efficient recordkeeping.
- Foster a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
- Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others.
- Stay informed of current trends and new approaches to instruction.
- Attend departmental and university meetings.
- Travel to other campuses as required.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in English Composition and/or Developmental Studies.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Experience in online course development and delivery is desirable.
- Knowledge within the virtual classroom. Some assigned courses may be taught online, hybrid, via distance delivery modalities, and potentially at two satellite campuses.
- Ability to motivate students in a distance learning environment and aid them in becoming self-disciplined students and effective time managers.
- Excellent communication skills.
REPORTS TO: Department Head
SALARY: Commensurate with credentials, qualifications and experience.
HOURS: Faculty are required to hold eight (8) office hours per week.
