The university advances knowledge through research and discovery, teaching and learning, community engagement and public service, and with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. This is a tenure-track, 9 month position. Primary duties will include teaching of face-to-face and online undergraduate courses, online graduate courses, and hybrid doctoral courses. Duties also include service on departmental, university, and professional committees. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
Generally, faculty have a 3-3 teaching load with opportunities for course releases. However, a reduced load (2-2 for the first 2 years) is provided to new hires to allow them to focus on performing/publishing research in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or closely related areas.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a earned doctorate in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related field. ABDs will also be considered but must have earned a doctorate before appointment. All specializations (for example, but not limited to, cybercrime, homeland security, terrorism, policing, courts, corrections, qualitative research methods, and administration) will be considered. We strongly encourage candidates with a strong research agenda and a strong record of or potential for sustained publication in peer-reviewed journals (commensurate with experience). We also strongly encourage candidates who have prior experience with seeking and/or securing external grant funding and the ability to teach in areas that complement or strengthen our undergraduate and graduate programs.
We offer competitive salaries and a benefits package including health insurance, retirement benefits, and life insurance. Additional pay is available for summer teaching. Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
