Job Description:
Berry College invites applications for the Dean of the Evans School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. We seek a leader who will provide an innovative vision for the humanities, arts, and social sciences in the context of the college's mission to provide deep learning experiences in and out of the classroom. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to lead change that will strengthen Evans programs, support the wide variety of faculty and disciplines represented in the school, and collaborate with other college leaders such as school deans and colleagues outside of Academic Affairs.
The Evans School includes programs in Anthropology, Art, Art History, Communication, Creative Writing, Dance, English, Environmental Studies, French, German, History, International Affairs, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, Sociology, Spanish, and Theatre. Evans School programs include robust Visual and Performing arts offerings in the Bell Recital Hall, the Moon Gallery, and the Sisters Theatre. The Communication Department sponsors a variety of student publications and Viking Fusion, the college's student-run multimedia website. The Evans School includes the Model United Nations program and the Berry College Forensics Union. Evans Faculty are deeply involved in Academic Community Engagement (ACE), supportive of student internships, and interested in increasing opportunities for faculty-mentored undergraduate research.
The dean will lead faculty development efforts to build leadership capacity and continued professional growth. We are especially interested in candidates whose experience?including teaching, research, and leadership?is aligned with and will advance Berry's Good Neighbor Culture . The dean will be skilled in building external relationships with community partners and collaborating effectively with the Advancement Office.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The dean serves as the chief academic, administrative, and budgetary officer of the Evans School and reports directly to the provost. The dean supervises all Evans faculty, department chairs, directors, coordinators, and administrative staff. The dean serves as a member of the Provost's Council of Deans and teaches 3 to 6 credit hours each year in their discipline.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in one of the disciplines represented by the Evans School, with sufficient academic credentials to merit appointment to the rank of full professor. Successful candidates will have a proven and effective track record of leadership in an administrative position such as dean, associate dean, or department chair that demonstrates commitment to innovation and improvement.
