University of the Ozarks invites applications for the Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA).  The VPFA is the Chief Financial Officer of the University and has responsibility for the leadership and management of the University’s administrative and finance operations, is a member of the executive management team and reports directly to the President.  The Vice President is responsible for providing executive level direction and management oversight for financial planning, budgeting and budget analysis, accounting and business operations, finance controls and reporting, investment oversight, information technology, student financial aid, campus maintenance and development, risk management and insurance, space planning and construction, human resources management, facilities and grounds operations, purchasing, and contract administration.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Under the direction of the President, the Vice President for Finance and Administration performs some or all of the following duties:

  • Serves as the financial advisor to the President;
  • Leads the management of the University administrative operations and services: physical facilities, grounds, business office, information technology, human resources and risk management, student financial aid, and rental properties;
  • Serves as staff liaison to the Board of Trustees’ Finance and Endowment Committees;
  • Serves as the direct liaison between the Endowment Committee of the Board of Trustees and the endowment consultants;
  • Manages a local real estate trust;
  • In consultation with the Vice Presidents of Marketing and Enrollment, Advancement and Alumni Engagement, Student Success and Academic Affairs develops and implements the annual operating budget. 
  • Develops and oversees the implementation of the University’s strategic goals and action plans for campus and facility operations, business office, Information Technology and human resources;
  • Coordinates the contracts and services for the campus auxiliary enterprises;
  • Is responsible for oversight of Human Resources, payroll and benefits;
  • Conducts short- and long-range financial forecasting; for the operational, capital and debt budgets;
  • In consultation with the president and senior staff ensures responsible allocation of human and fiscal resources to programs;
  • Provides leadership for and oversees the information technology systems of the University;
  • Assesses operational results, including benchmarking operations against peers and industry standards;
  • Recommends financials and administrative policies and procedures to more effectively and efficiently operate the University;
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Enjoy working with college students and those who support them.
  • Work evenings and weekends as required.

Qualifications

Required: 

  • A graduate degree;
  • Sophisticated understanding of Higher Education Finance;
  • A minimum of seven years finance experience with progressively increased responsibilities and demonstrated outcomes.

            

Preferred: 

  • CPA
  • Experience maximizing utilization of endowed funds.
