Job Summary

This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining the TCC Azure, Microsoft 365 (M365), Cloud-based environments, and virtualization technologies by providing administration, implementation, process development, and technology integration in a collaborative manner. This position also provides technical expertise for deploying and supporting applications in Azure/M365 and works closely across all of IT to ensure positive customer outcomes.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements*
  • Designs, configures, manages, and maintains Azure, M365, and VMware applications, services, systems, and resources
  • Adjusts Virtual Desktop and Virtual Server Infrastructure to improve system performance
  • Works closely with Operations, Application Development and Administration, Infrastructure Technology, Endpoint Support Staff, Business Leads, and other teams to implement and incorporate application and service processes in Azure, M365, and VMware
  • Monitors, reviews, and maintains security and service alerts and the overall health of the Azure, M365, and VMware environments including applications, services, and systems
  • Identifies and analyzes problems associated with the Cloud environment and develops problem-resolution strategies
  • Works with Identity and Access Management staff to support account management processes
  • Provides Level 2 and 3 Help Desk support for Azure, M365, and VMware applications, services, and systems
  • Develops instructions and support/configuration documentation for Azure, M365, and VMware applications and services for IT staff and end-users
  • Responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining technical reference documentation for Azure, M365, and VMware
  • Maintains system backups while also creating and updating system scripts
  • Exhibits fiscal responsibility by optimizing Azure resources for cost and performance optimization
  • Supports virtual servers and workstations in both the Cloud and on-premises environments
General Supervision
System Administrator IV – V
  • Provides direction and support to team members by assisting with advanced or complex technical situations and by providing guidance regarding best practices
  • Acts as a mentor by providing support to team members as they expand their knowledge and build higher-level skills
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College ( TCC ) Institute
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College

Required Minimum Qualifications

System Administrator I
  • High school diploma or GED and two (2) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and work-related experience
System Administrator II
  • High school diploma or GED and four (4) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and work-related experience
System Administrator III
  • High school diploma or GED and five (5) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and work-related experience
System Administrator IV
  • High school diploma or GED and seven (7) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and work-related experience
  • ITIL v4 Foundations certification
System Administrator V
  • High school diploma or GED and nine (9) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and work-related experience
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-103 or AZ-104) certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (Hyper-V)
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-103 or AZ-104) Certification
  • Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator (SC-300) Certification
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals (MS-900) Certification
  • Major security certifications (Security+, CEH, or GIAC GCIH )
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of networking principles and concepts
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10+ and/or Microsoft Server 2016+
  • Knowledge of Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, or PowerShell
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication with technical and non-technical customers
  • Skilled using applications and enterprise systems, including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Skilled in working with formal Change Control Systems based on the ITIL model
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly while exhibiting strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables
