Description

The overall purpose of this job is to assist in the basic food preparation and service of meals.

Examples of Duties•Serve and maintain food quantities for large numbers of people
•Assist with general cleaning chores in the dining area and kitchen
•Set up, break down and maintain independent serveries
•Provide assistance with catered functions
•Provide guidance to student employees
•Be well groomed and wear the proper issued uniform
•Assist with stocking as requested
•Participate in training, as well as other departmental function requirements
•Other duties as requested

Qualifications
•Ability to operate and maintain production equipment
•Basic knife skills, and the ability to grill, saut, roast, broil, and fry food
•Knowledge of proper/safe time and temperature for food handling
•Ability to operate small kitchen equipment, including Robo-coup, mandolin, mixers, emersion blenders, potato peeler, etc.
•Must have good customer service skills
•Ability to work well independently as well as within a team
•Serve-Safe Certified, or the ability to become certified
•Must have non-slip shoes to be worn dailyTypical QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience: Six months culinary experience preferred
