Job Description

Nevada State University actively maintains an open pool of qualified individuals to be selected on an as-needed basis by the department to fulfill part-time temporary instructional needs and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Nevada State invites applications for an open pool of adjunct faculty for in-person courses in American Sign Language Interpreting.

Applications will be considered on an as-needed basis determined by course availability.

Adjunct faculty members are compensated at the rate of $1,000 per credit hour. Courses range from1-3 credits.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in American Sign Language Interpreting, Linguistics (ASL), Deaf Studies, or in a related area.
  • Current Interpreting Certifications (e.g. NIC or EIPA).
  • 5 years of interpreting experience within the Deaf community.
  • 2 years or more teaching for both interpreting and ASL courses at the college-level.
  • Available to teach in person in the morning, afternoon or evening.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to teaching, educational excellence, and mentoring undergraduate students.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in ASL Interpreting, Deaf Education, Deaf Studies, or Linguistics (ASL).
  • 7 or more years of interpreting experience within the Deaf community.
  • 3 or more years teaching experience for both Interpreting courses and ASL courses at the college-level.
  • ASL interpreting experience in multiple fields, such as medical, educational, legal, the arts, trilingual, etc.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) Canvas, Blackboard, or D2L.
