Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
The University College seeks a temporary academic advisor that will provide academic advising and support during our incoming academic year. Advising caseload will be determined based on number of hours worked (range is 10-29 hours per week). This position will support first-year and transfer students and will be expected to provide accurate academic policy and curricular information to assist in short-term and long-term academic program planning and career goal clarification. This position will be working with all students served by University College which includes freshmen, transfers, military and pre-professional students.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree with 18 hours of discipline focused master level course work
  • Experience in university/college setting
  • Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, effective organizational skills, and detail orientation
  • Must exhibit cultural competence and possess a broad understanding of student academic, developmental, and social needs


Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Academic Advising experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of student development theory, advising strategies, and best practices to support student success initiatives in a university/college environment

Anticipated Hiring Range: $880-$2,552/month

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
