Cottey College, a private liberal arts and sciences college for women, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in dance, starting August 2025. The Department of Theatre and Dance is seeking a candidate to teach a variety of dance techniques, improvisation, composition, and choreography.  Candidates for this position should have a primary expertise in choreography and performance-making, including experience working with musical theatre. The preferred candidate will have earned a terminal degree in dance, either an MFA or a Ph.D. Candidates with an MA and considerable professional dance experience will be considered.

We seek a dance artist who can contribute course offerings in composition and choreography and other approaches to movement-based performance-making, dance techniques, and improvisation. In addition, the ideal candidate will be able to offer courses that place the study of dance within relevant historical and cultural contexts. We encourage applicants who possess a broad understanding of current dance practices, including those related to performance in the theatre. The successful candidate should also expect to lead a significant artistic project each semester with students as part of the overall teaching load. The college has an established dance company which has fostered an inclusive environment for all students regardless of gender pronouns, physical stature and disabilities, and an expectation to continue supporting this aim is desired.
