The Assistant Director of Career Services, reporting to the Director of the Center for Career & Professional Development, focusing on Employer and Community Partnerships and Experiential Learning, will play a critical role in building and nurturing relationships with employers, community partners, and alumni. This position aims to enhance the experiential learning opportunities available to students, such as internships, employment opportunities, and service-learning projects. The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, alumni, and external partners to ensure a robust and comprehensive career services program that aligns with the institution's mission and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Employer and Community Partnerships:
- Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national employers to create job and internship opportunities for students.
- Organize and participate in employer outreach activities, including job fairs, employer panels, networking events, and on-campus recruiting programs
Experiential Learning:
- Assist with the development and administration of experiential learning programs, including internships, co-op programs, service-learning projects, and other hands-on learning opportunities.
Program Management and Development:
- Assist in the strategic planning and implementation of career services programs and initiatives.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and promotional materials to highlight program successes and opportunities.
- Stay informed about industry trends, labor market developments, and best practices in career services and experiential learning.
Student and Alumni Engagement:
- Advise and mentor students on clarifying academic and career goals through one-on-one career counselling sessions. Assist with career planning, job search strategies, and professional development. Design and deliver career-related workshops, programs, seminars, and other programming to enhance students' career readiness.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with the Director of Career Services, faculty, and other campus stakeholders to align career services with institutional goals.
- Serve as a liaison between employers, students, and academic departments to facilitate communication and collaboration.
- Supervise and mentor career services staff, interns, and student workers as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in strategic planning and evaluation of career services program.
- Collect and report placement data for internships and full-time/part-time employment opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years related experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in higher education administration, business, human resources, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in career services, employer relations, or a related area.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in program development, management, and assessment.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in career services, experiential learning, and employer relations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in using career services management software and other relevant technology.
- Typical office environment with some travel required for employer visits and career events. May require evening or weekend work to accommodate student needs and event schedules.

- Serves as a liaison to student groups, clubs, and athletic organizations.
- Represents career office on college committees, conferences, and to the College community at large
- Conducts outreach programming, orienting employers and other constituents to services
- Performs related duties as assigned.
