Description
The Simmons School of Education & Human Development at Southern Methodist University (SMU) is currently accepting applications for three (3) Clinical Assistant Professor of Sport Management positions. These are non-tenure-track, nine-month renewable contract positions.
Position Expectations
Clinical professors are expected to teach 4 courses (12 credit hours) per semester at either the graduate or undergraduate levels. Faculty are expected to teach a variety of courses across the sport management curriculum, including but not limited to:
- Sport Law
- Sport Facility & Event Management
- Sport Communication
- Sport Finance
- Sport Analytics
- Sport Marketing Leadership in sport
This position includes teaching graduate courses in the Master of Science Sport Management program and/or undergraduate courses in the Bachelor of Science in Sport Management. Clinical professors may be asked to teach evening and/or weekend courses. Clinical professors are also expected to maintain office hours and an appropriate student-centered presence on campus while participating in service leading to the development, growth, and expansion of the sport management programs. Qualifications
- Master's degree in sport management or a related field such as sport administration, business, law, economics, etc. with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the sport or allied-to-sport industry. A Doctorate Degree (Ph.D., J.D. or Ed.D.) is desirable. Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate sport management courses (online or in-person) is preferred Application Procedure
