Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The Office of the Provost and Sr. VC for Academic Affairs is the top administrative office for the Division of Academic Affairs. The purpose of the office is to provide oversight to all academic programs, services, and activities including academic degree programs, non-degree course offering, and academic support and services. FSU offers 43 undergraduate degrees, 23 master’s degrees and one doctoral degree through its College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Lloyd College of Health, Science and Technology, Broadwell College of Business & Economics and College of Education along with continuing education and pre-college programs and provides many academic support services inclusive of the admissions, registrar and financial aid functions. Hence the Provost Office requires interaction with students, faculty and administrators, staff, and external constituencies such as other university administrators, alumni, legislators and international dignitaries.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
The University Program Associate for Academic Affairs assists with the daily operations of the Office of Academic Affairs. The position reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic & Faculty Affairs, who has primary and independent responsibility for various essential functions. The office provides oversight to faculty issues, including oversight of the Office of Faculty Development and its numerous programs designed to support faculty development, requests for reappointment, tenure, and promotion. The position also provides assistance to the Chief Operations Officer for specific tasks, including preparation of documents for the FSU Board of Trustees, the UNC General Administration and Board of Governors. The position also advises the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic & Faculty Affairs on resolutions to problems that are directed to the office and helps to plan programs and events. The position must exercise independent judgment about important issues and respond to inquiries from students about academic status and problems and respond to questions from faculty regarding re-appointments, tenure, and promotion procedures and event planning. The Office also provides back-up to the Provost Office in planning events, programs, communicating to the Academic Affairs division and responding to inquiries.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Prefer demonstrated experience supporting high level, busy executives.

- Proficient use of office software such as MS Office Suite
- Knowledge of Navigate Banner Finance System and 25Live
- Ability to design Excel spreadsheets and create forms using Excels, extract data from Banner System to develop reports
- Knowledge of standard policies, practices, and guidelines for office operations
- Excellent interpersonal skills and abilities to make decisions necessary to handle inquiries to make appropriate referrals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
