Summary

The Office of Surgical Research (OSR) within the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery and in Collaboration with CTSU Oncology department within the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC) has an immediate opening for a Clinical Research Coordinator II with the Cardiothoracic Surgery Team. This position provides with day-to-day activities and will be responsible for collecting study subject information for a clinical research study in the area of Cardiothoracic Cancer, entering research data into study database, scheduling study subjects for tests and procedures specific to the research protocol, and assisting study subjects with navigation through the study process.

Under this role, the Research Coordinator II coordinates day to day activities of research protocols which include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants.

Job Duties
  • Supports the screening, enrolling, collecting of samples, and monitoring research participants for multiple studies. (15%)
  • Administers questionnaires and study surveys and enters data into different study databases (15%)
  • Abstracts data from the medical record as required by the study protocol or sample request (15%)
  • Monitors patient schedules and guides them through the consent process for multiple studies. (15%)
  • May collect blood or other samples from study participants. (15%)
  • Conducts study activities at the Harris Health System and other BCM-affiliated hospitals, as needed. (15%)
  • Responds to study queries and performs data abstraction for different studies (10)
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Oncology study experience.
  • Technical knowledge of REDCap, Microsoft Word.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
