Summary
The University Store Manager is pivotal in driving the strategic vision and operational efficiency of the Midwestern University Store. This role is dedicated to supporting the academic community by overseeing the daily operations and ensuring access to essential educational resources and materials. The University Store Manager will lead a team, manage inventory, coordinate with faculty for textbook requirements, and create a welcoming environment for students and staff. This position demands a dynamic individual capable of fostering strong customer relationships and optimizing the University Store's performance through effective marketing and financial management. This position will report to the Director of Food Services.
Essential Responsibilities
- Oversee daily University Store operations, including inventory management, purchasing and vendor relations. Maintain a clean, organized and welcoming store environment.
- Recruit, hire, train and supervise store staff, including sales associates and Federal Work Study (FWS) store clerks.
- Conduct regular performance evaluation and provide feedback and coaching to staff.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service. Develop and implement operation policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Facilitate and promote the store as a resource for students and faculty.
- Coordinate with academic departments to ensure timely availability of required textbooks and course material.
- Create and implement market analysis and strategic marketing of store merchandise.
- Implement a product rotation strategy to ensure the store remains appealing and engaging for customers.
- Develop and manage the University Store budget, ensuring financial objectives are met.
- Organize and execute University Store events and promotions. Collaborates and participates in broader university initiatives and events to support and achieve the overall goals of the university.
- Collaborate with university departments and external vendors to ensure efficient store operations, including maintain product inventory levels, managing in-store textbook programs, and documenting financial store performance.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
This job has supervisory responsibilities. The University Store Manage will supervise the store associates and Federal Work Study (FWS) store clerks.

Education and/or Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is required with 3-5years of retail management experience, preferably in a university or campus store setting. Must have good customer service skills with the ability to lead a team. Have the ability to build key partnerships with other store staff and campus organizations for promotional and special events.
Computer Skills
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required. Experience with retail management software preferred.
