Position requires face-to-face instruction. Student consultation hours, i.e. office hours (minimum of 5 hours on three different days) are required. In addition to teaching, the position requires performing research, which should involve undergraduates, and serving on committees. The position should also assist with maintaining the program’s a large collection of geological samples.

Position Summary
Slippery Rock University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Geosciences beginning August 2025. We are seeking a broadly trained geologist to teach undergraduate classes which may include historical geology, sedimentology and stratigraphy, paleontology, and science courses for general education.
It is expected that the successful candidate will have a commitment to the education of a diverse population, establish a research program involving undergraduates, actively participate in academic advising, serve on committees, and help maintain the Department’s collection of geological samples. Faculty are required to hold a minimum of five student consultation (office) on at least three different days.
The courses in the Environmental Geoscience program are taught on Slippery Rock University’s main campus.
Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. or A.B.D. in geology or closely related field. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills. A successful on-campus interview, including teaching and research presentations, is required. A commitment to the education of diverse populations is also required.

Experience leading field work activities.
