Job Purpose:

Serve as a member of the President’s staff overseeing and managing the University’s financial matters including but not limited to budget, payroll, accounting, cashier, purchasing, financial systems and fiscal policy development. The incumbent oversees the annual budget preparation, the management of income to the University from all sources, the distribution of funds throughout the University, administration of University compensation programs, and the execution of all budget related activities consistent with the policies of the University. Also works closely with the Owners and the Chair of the Board of Trustees on all aspects of financial management and planning.

 

Duties:

  • Serve as member of the President’s staff, participating in discussions, decision-making, and policy making as required.
  • Direct the preparation and administration of the university budgets, costs analysis and other financial, administrative and business affairs based upon institutional mission and resources and enrollment management goals and objectives.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate policies and procedures associated with institutional finances, including student finance, vendor operations, personnel issues, inventory.
  • Manage the administration of university compensation programs, including payroll, , working closely with the Director of Human Resources.
  • Ensure effective use of university resources, implement fiscally sound practices
  • Oversees the accuracy and integrity of all financial statements, revenue projections and other reports as required.
  • Serve as a resource and support for departments as it relates to financial issues, including budget development and oversight, special fees, operational expenditures, inventory management and personnel costs.
  • Provide senior management with on-going forecasting of operating revenues and expenditures, and the resulting operational impact.
  • Coordinate, prepare, participate and provide required support for all associated university audits.
  • Select, train, lead and evaluate staff; establish and monitor employee performance objectives; prepare and present employee performance reviews; provide or coordinate staff development.
  • Direct work load and task assignments of all office staff to ensure successful and timely completion of all work.
  • Oversee and participate in the development and implementation of the institutional Information System as it relates to financial operations.
  • Develop and maintain policy and procedure manuals related to unit programs and services.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor institutional inventory management program, work closely with various administration departments to ensure implementation and use
  • Manage and monitor department budget; including the forecasting funds required for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor division expenditures.
  • Proactively provide timely analysis and recommendations to senior staff to improve financial and operational performance of their departments.
  • Keep abreast of developments in higher education finance and fields related to assigned functions.

    Skills:

  • Demonstrated experiences in university budget development and oversight.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and problem-solve broad strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of professionals, students and parents, community members and constituencies.
  • Ability to lead, inspire, supervise and evaluate team members in an effort to meet institution and department goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated competency and experiences in the application and implementation of information systems as related to financial operations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of standard software applications.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekends.

    Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree and certifications required.
  • At least 5 years experiences in an education environment.
  • Experience in the supervision of finance department staff.
  • Experience in the application and implementation of technology related to fiscal operations.
  • Experience in the development, management and oversight of institutional budgets.
