Position Summary:
The University of Idaho College of Law seeks to fill an academic year (9 month) Instructor position, contingent upon funding, responsible for leading the College's Family Justice Clinic. The clinic is devoted to providing free legal services in various matters to survivors of domestic abuse, working with the Family Advocacy Center and Education Services, Inc. (d/b/a Faces of Hope). Faces of Hope provides services in a safe, private, and supportive setting for survivors of abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Services are drawn from a multi-disciplinary team, which includes medical professionals, legal services providers, and victim advocates. The faculty member will be involved in providing direct legal services to clients, will supervise law students who represent those clients, and will complete all necessary grant reporting requirements. The faculty member will also be responsible for running the seminar or classroom component associated with the clinic.The faculty member is expected to teach a 1:1 load, manage the clinic, and engage in service and outreach activities on behalf of the Clinic and the College of Law.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Candidates must have a J.D. from an accredited school or the equivalent;
  • A record of excellence in teaching, or related experience; at least five years of practice experience
  • Must be a member of a bar in good standing and eligible for admission to the Idaho State Bar as a supervising attorney within one year of the date of hire.
  • Experience creating a safe, welcoming, and dynamic learning environment of belonging for all students, or related experience.





Preferred Qualifications:
  • a track record of service in the community
  • prior experience practicing family law
  • prior experience working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • prior clinical teaching experience.
