PURPOSE
The Research Specialist I, under general supervision performs semi-skilled, technical support research work on water and environmental systems involving performance of assignments requiring modification and adaptation to routine procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on the successful completion of tasks assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Research: 85%
- Compile and manage the data of water and environmental systems.
- Analyze and prepare research data for the development of reports, presentations, manuscripts, and other products.
- Assist in project management.
- Reviews analysis and tests data.
- Makes and records observations and scientific measurement.
- Extracts, collects and compiles data.
Administrative: 10%
- Develops and maintains training materials for external users.
Other: 5%
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree
- Four (4) years of related experience
- Research experience in statistical analysis and experimental work
- Excellent skills of scientific writing and communications
- Experience of lab management and student mentoring in a university environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in a STEM discipline
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control procedures
NOTE: This is a part-time position that is grant funded and is contingent upon funding.
