Supervision Received: Reports directly to Social Work Department Chair.
Supervision Exercised: Supervises Assistant Field Education Directors (3.5), and a full-time Graduate Assistant.
Salary: $72,000.00 to $77,000.00 Annually (salary commensurate with education and experience)

General Statement of Duties:

Oversees all educational and administrative aspects of the Social Work Department's Field Education Program for both BSW and MSW Programs at Westfield, and the fully online MSW Program.

Essential:

Program Administration and Management
  • Oversees all educational and administrative aspects of the Social Work Department's Field Education Program for both BSW and MSW Programs in Westfield and the fully online MSW Program.
  • Serves on the administrative leadership team for the department to maintain cohesion and consistency across competency attainment and fulfill CSWE program standards.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of pedagogy, policies and procedures related to field education and the department of social work.
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver signature authority of affiliation agreements with all community partners and field agencies.
  • Participate in the Social Work Department Committee, MSW Program Committee, & Continuing Education Committee.
  • Collaborate and communicate with administration, faculty, staff, students, and community relative to field education.
  • Maintain and expand print and web presence related to field education.
  • Develop, oversee, and maintain web-based field education documentation system.

Staffing/Supervision
  • Oversee all supervisory functions within the Field Education Program, including the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of employees (currently 3.5) and graduate/undergraduate work study students. Conduct annual evaluations for professional staff according to University schedule.
  • Provide training, supervision and evaluation of all staff in the Social Work Field Education Program.
  • Implement professional development opportunities for staff to increase expertise and cross-training.

Accreditation Standards Management and Reporting
  • Oversee all aspects of the assessment plan for field-based social work competencies.
  • Spearhead field-related initiatives to develop, retrieve, record and report data on outcomes of field education.
  • Gather and analyze the outcome data in the Internship Placement Tracking (IPT) software.
  • Utilize Rapid Cycle Quality Improvement to maintain fidelity in the measure.
  • Manage the reporting, dissemination and utilization of information related to field education.
  • Prepare fact sheets and annual reports.
  • Respond to requests for data in a timely fashion.

Community Partner Engagement
  • Develop, oversee, and maintain community partnerships and field practicum sites.
  • Consult and collaborate with all levels of community partner leadership in areas related to field curriculum, partnership initiatives, and workforce development.
  • Serve as a consultant and social work department representative for internal and community stakeholders related to all aspects of field education.
  • Chair the Field Education Advisory Board.

Field Supervisor and Faculty Liaison Training
  • Oversee the development and implementation for a Seminar in Field Instruction Certificate Course for field supervisors.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the lead for the field practicum courses for BSW, MSW Foundation, and MSW Advanced Field courses.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of training to all field practicum instructors (faculty field liaisons).
  • Assure all community partner field supervisors are prepared and supported for their work with students, each other, and the social work programs.

Grant Related Duties
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of community partnerships and integrated behavioral health field practicum sites.
  • Coordinate the application process, selection, and placement of fellows for the HRSA grant.
  • Serve on the IBHC Team and IBHC Advisory Board.
  • Provide field data related to grant deliverables.
  • Serves in a consultative role, community partner liaison, and direct development as appropriate, on additional grants that include a field related component.


Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree and license in Social Work.
  • Previous supervisory experience related to social work education is required (i.e. supervision of social work students, adjunct teaching, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and technology skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous field placement coordination experience.
  • Strong skills in mediation and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of area social service agencies.
  • Experience in program development and management.

Salary:

Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies.
