Summary:  New Mexico State University is seeking applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Creative Writing (fiction focus).

New Mexico State University is seeking applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Creative Writing (fiction focus).

Classification Standard Duties:
This position will contribute to our undergraduate writing program and the MFA program in creative writing which is now a part of the Creative Media Institute (CMI), the department where student film making, playwriting and animation are taught. CMI is also connected to the school’s journalism program. Courses taught by this hire will be workshops and form and technique classes in fiction at the undergraduate and graduate level. Directing and serving on thesis committees is required.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
An MFA or PhD in Creative Writing or a related field is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A successful candidate will have a strong publication record including at least one published book with a reputable press (two books preferred) and experience teaching creative writing. Other publications or productions in one or more of the following areas is desirable: creative nonfiction, documentary studies, environmental studies, new media, playwriting or screenwriting, translation and/or hybrid literature. An interest in program leadership, publishing, and outreach is a plus.
