Summary

The Center for Biomedical Engineering & Nano-Biophotonics in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery is seeking an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Fellow to undertake research projects in the Division of Surgical Oncology. The research will focus on the translation of nano-biophotonic technologies into clinical applications for cancer diagnostics and therapy. Both human tissue samples and sophisticated animal models will be utilized and analyzed using the most advanced technologies.

Job Duties
  • Maintains responsibility for undertaking research projects.
  • Plans research study design through systems.
  • Runs single cell platforms.Sets and performs in vitro and in vivo experiments.
  • Prepares and writes manuscripts.
  • Creates and reviews laboratory procedures.
  • Manages the safety in the lab.
  • Modifies and upgrades planned experiments.
  • Writes and revises protocols for IRB.
  • Writes and revises protocols for IACUC.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Checks operational condition of laboratory equipment.
  • Assists in supervising students and research assistants.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in the field of Biophotonics, optoacoustic imaging and detection of biological gases and fluids is highly desired.
  • 5 Years of Laboratory Research in Biophotonics, Optoacoustic imaging and detection of biological gases and fluids.
