University of Baltimore—The School of Criminal Justice in the College of Public Affairs invites applications for a Lecturer in the Criminal Justice programs to begin in fall 2025 (pending final budget approval).

The School offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Criminal Justice, Forensic Studies, and Cyber Forensics as well as multiple certificate programs and a joint program with the School of Law (JD/MSCJ). Additionally, faculty and students have opportunities to collaborate in the research projects managed by the College’s three Centers – the Center for Advancing Prevention Excellence, the Center for Public Safety Innovation, the Schaeffer Center for Public Policy – and the School’s Second Chance College Program. Candidates for the position must hold a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or Criminology, or comparable discipline, and ideally, have some professional experience in law-enforcement related fields. Successful candidates for the position will be able to teach major core courses in criminal justice (e.g., research methods, criminological theory, etc.) as well as law enforcement specialization courses in the undergraduate and graduate criminal justice programs. Candidates who demonstrate the integration of research and/or professional experience and real-world problems into their classroom instruction and activities will be viewed favorably.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to teach eight courses per academic year (4 per semester) and must be proficient with multiple instructional modalities (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, asynchronous and synchronous online instruction). In addition to promoting an engaged and inclusive learning environment for students, the successful candidate will also be engaged citizen of the university, the profession, and the community through various service activities.
