JOB DEVELOPER PART-TIME – GRANT FUNDED

DAWSON TECHNICAL INSTITUTE

KENNEDY-KING COLLEGE

Dawson Technical Institute (DTI) is seeking a Part-Time Job Developer (Grant Funded) to provide intensive advising and support to students including check-ins throughout the semester to support the goals and objectives of the Workforce Equity Initiative (WEI) Grant. The Job Developer will also aid in problem solving and direct students to City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) resources to ensure retention and completion. Success of the Part-Time Job Developer is contingent upon students earning certificates of economic value and job placement of student graduates from CCC Programs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Solicits jobs directly from employers via telephone, mail, direct visits, and referrals.
  • Coordinates job fairs, workshops, special programs and solicits employers to participate.
  • Provides job readiness training to students including pre-employment skills, career assessment, resume writing, and interviewing techniques.
  • Provides customized employment workshops, speakers, classroom visits, student ability assessments and employment referrals for academic disciplines.
  • Maintains a database of job leads and potential employers.
  • Conducts research of the job market to stay abreast of industry trends; prepares reports for management review.
  • Tracks student placement statistics and monitors success rate of placements.
  • Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Services, Education, or related field or an Associate’s degree and ten years of demonstrated experience working in job placement required. Consideration will be given to candidates with an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Three years of experience performing the general duties and responsibilities of the position, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Demonstrated experience developing workshops/training sessions strongly preferred. Work experience in an academic setting highly desirable.
  • Must be able to work well with employees at all levels of the organization, in addition to students and other customers. Must be able to handle all situations with tact, persuasiveness, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication necessary. Must be able to write reports and present training workshops clearly and accurately. Ability to work with students from diverse communities through one-to-one and public speaking interactions.
  • Must be self-directed and innovative, able to assess current operations in an effort to improve the future goals of the school. Must be able to meet deadlines in a timely manner. Ability to operate computers and use software applications.
  • Must be flexible with schedule which may include weekends as necessary.
  • Must be able to travel to job sights, job fairs, etc.
