Job Description
Nevada State University invites applications for the position of TRIO Upward Bound Specialist. The TRIO Upward Bound Specialist will assist with the coordination and execution of STEM curriculum development and academic student supportive services for TRIO Upward Bound college-bound students. The Specialist will serve as a liaison to tutoring vendors and STEM mentors.
The Specialist is also responsible for program data analytics to ensure internal quality controls are realized and for use in developing university and federal program reports. The Specialist is a compliance team member for the Nevada State University TRIO grants. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of TRIO Upward Bound and interact with the Executive Director of TRIO and Educational Opportunity Programs. Finally, the Specialist will support special program initiatives and activities, including participating in CCSD partner school events and periodic student-related events.
This position is not eligible for temporary remote work and will require Nevada residency and on-site work. This position is grant funded through May 31, 2027. Any continuation in this position will be based on additional grant funding.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and identify math-learning instruments designed to increase proficiency.
- Develop and oversee individualized student support plans.
- Create seminars on STEM proficiency and college readiness, time management, study skills and test taking strategy workshops for pre-college students and parents.
- Serve as a liaison to tutoring vendors and STEM mentors.
- Curate structured individual and group tutorials.
- Monitor student and alumni academic progress.
- Collect, enter, analyze, and summarize student data using the student database and Microsoft Excel.
- Manage and maintain student data in hard copies and online formats for internal and external reporting requirements.
- Develop and present reports on demand.
- Support special program initiatives and activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- One (1) year experience in comparable profession.
- Demonstrated commitment to a diverse, nontraditional, first generation student population.
- Effective written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to pass the Clark County School District background check required to obtain a school district badge.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Work Hours:
This position will work 30 hours per week, 75% Full Time Equivalent (FTE).
Salary & Benefits
Budgeted salary for this position is $39,147.75. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 17.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
